Dear Families, 

Thank you to the SJ Fundraising Association for contributing to the cost of swimming lessons for SJ students.  Also, a big thank you to the parents who have been volunteering with students at the pool this week.  Unfortunately 2 days of swimming had to be cancelled this week due to the cold weather, but we will make up the days later in the school year.  A reminder that swimming lessons for grade 1/2 students begin next week.

 On February 19, 2025, the Calgary Board of Education received 72-hour strike notice from CUPE Local 40. This means CUPE Local 40 will withdraw its services effective Monday, February 24.  All CBE schools and buildings will remain open and classes will continue. However, a strike will have an impact on schools and operations. One of the impacts is limiting access to schools after hours, and moving School Council meetings online.  The February 25 School Council meeting will be held online through Microsoft TEAMS.  You can join the meeting through this link February School Council Meeting.

Our Grade 3/4 Celebration of Learning is scheduled for Thursday, February 27.  The Celebration will begin earlier than originally communicated, as we must limit access to schools after hours due to the CUPE Local 40 strike.   

The schedule for the evening is as follows:

4:30pm

o   Doors Open

o   Students walk through the Learning Commons and Circle Room with families to view student work

4:45pm

o   Gym Doors Open

o   Families are invited to go to the gym, students go to their classroom

5:00pm

o   Performance in the gym

5:45pm

o   Performance ends

February 27 – Volleyball Game at Riverside - 4:00pm, Grade 3/4 Celebration of Learning – 4:30pm-6:00pm

February 28 – Professional Learning Day – No School for Students

March 4 - Volleyball Game at Stanley Jones School - 4:00pm

March 11 - Volleyball Game at Colonel MacLeod School - 4:00pm

March 12 – Healthy Hunger – Spolumbo’s

March 17-20 – Swimming Lessons for SJ grade 5/6

March 18 – School Council Meeting

March 20 – Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

March 21 – No School - Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

March 24-30 – Spring Break

March 31 – Classes Resume
