Weekly Message - October 4, 2024

Dear Families,

Thank you to the parent/guardian volunteers who attended the Women in Outdoor Careers Day with our AJA grade 8/9 students.  It was a great experience for the students.

Any parents/guardians who are thinking about future volunteer opportunities must ensure they have completed their volunteer clearance; this involves applying for a police information check with a vulnerable sector search.  Please follow this process:

• Come to our school office and show picture ID. Our office staff will generate a letter, that includes a VOAN number, through the CBE Security Clearance for Volunteers.
• Within a week you will receive an email from the Calgary Police Service that contains a voucher and link to complete the volunteer clearance form.  This means the volunteer clearance is free of charge.
• Complete the online process, and within 3-4 weeks you will receive your volunteer clearance.
• Send a copy of the your volunteer clearance to the office.

We have many field trips taking place for students, and are planning more in the future.  Please log onto your MyCBE account to ensure fees are paid for any field trips.

Nation’s Vision Eye Exams: Nation’s Vision is a portable eye care team that visits schools to provide annual comprehensive eye exams to students, free of charge.  Nation’s Vision will be at our school November 4-5 and December 2-5.  A form was sent home with your child last week; please ensure the completed form is returned if you wish to have your child participate.

Stanley Jones Swag: Families have the opportunity to order t-shirts, hoodies, and toques with the new SJ logo.  Please follow the link Stanley Jones Online Store to place your orders before October 6^th.  There are youth and adult sizes, so double check you are ordering the correct size; there are no returns or refunds.  Please contact Ms. Patterson at cojpatterson@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions.
