Dear Families,
It has been a fantastic first week at Stanley Jones and Alice Jamieson Girls’ Academy as we welcomed our new and returning students back to school. Teachers have been busy building connections in the classroom as we begin our journey into a new school year together. As the nice weather continues, we are taking advantage of many opportunities to learn outside. We also have some upcoming field trips to Camp Chief Hector and are in need of volunteers. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you are able to volunteer.
Any parents/guardians who are thinking about future volunteer opportunities must ensure they have completed their volunteer clearance. This involves applying for a police information check with a vulnerable sector check – you will need to do the following as part of the process:
- Register as a volunteer through the SchoolEngage tab in your MyCBE account
- Make sure your Annual Volunteer Form is submitted to the school (this form is only valid for the current school year)
- Contact our office if you need a volunteer clearance letter.
Mark your calendars for our Meet the Teacher night on Thursday, September 24th, 3:30pm-6:30pm. This is not a booked one on one conference with teachers, but is an opportunity for your child to introduce you to their teachers and tour you around the school. Each grade will have an assigned time to visit your child’s classroom, view some of their work and documentation boards, and say hello to the teachers. We will also have food trucks at the school from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Stay tuned for a more detailed schedule of the evening.
Friday, September 25th is a non-instructional day for students. Teachers will be busy engaging in Professional Learning opportunities and connecting with families of students who are on IPPs.
Student Arrival: We would ask that parents say goodbye to students at their designated doors in the morning and allow students to enter the school on their own. If a student is late, they must check in with Ms. Sarah in the office. Please do not stop in the no parking and bus zones, and do not drop students off in the staff parking lot. We have had a request from our neighbors asking that parents/guardians do not block their driveways. Please be mindful of this when you are dropping off and picking up your child.
